Casio GW500A-1V Review

Casio GW500A-1V reviewIn developing its own wristwatches Casio began with the basic question, “What is a wristwatch?” Rather than simply making a digital version of the conventional mechanical watch, they thought that the ideal wristwatch should be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way.

Based on this, Casio was able to create Casio GW500A-1V G-Shock Atomic Solar Watch which does something much more than only showing the time digitally. For instance, it has 29 times zones (30 cities), city code display, and daylight saving on/off feature. And the big red colored “G-shock” written on the face of the main display says it all!

Quartz Movement

Because of the accuracy that quartz movement has, it can time extremely short periods of time. This movement assures you of accuracy and can let you do things on time.

Quartz watches are much more accurate than mechanical ones. That’s because the oscillator of a quartz watch, the little piece of quartz, is a much steadier oscillator than the balance wheel of a mechanical watch.

It’s a basic rule of timekeeping that the steadier an oscillator, the more accurate the timepiece. Quartz watches generally gain or lose no more than a minute or two a year.

Dynamic “Display”

This tough Casio watch is constructed with a durable black resin case with a stationary stainless steel bezel. The dial face not only features the time display, but the day, date, and month display too.

The digital-quartz-powered watch includes adjust, mode, split/reset, and start/stop function buttons to fit your activity, as well as sub dials that track battery life.

The whole look is very manly and can’t be worn with the power meeting suits at all. The sub dials could have been a bit bigger but rest is fine.

Durable mineral window protects the masculine look of the watch completely. The whole display talks of the feature as every single detail of the watch is written there including solar feature and G-shock advantage. It is water resistant to 660 feet.

Black Resin “Band”

Rubber is soft and more flexible than resin but with time from sweat and weather it starts cracking. Resin is much more durable, it doesn’t mark up easily and you will not have any issues with comfort. Tough watch needed such tough band.
